Oscar

From Jeoberg

I have had one of my males neutered and one female spayed. Both are doing just fine after their operations.

I also had the vet neuter one of my males because he was so violent and neutering is supposed to calm males somewhat. I thought about this over a period of three years, wondering if it was the right thing to do. However, Oscar (the grouch) became so violent that I could not touch him at all and he would try to attack any animal that came near his cage. I have scars from the bites he gave me just cleaning his cage. I love Oscar and refused to have the vet put him to sleep just because of his violent behavior, which was a direct consequence of previous owners abuse. Anyway, I allowed the vet to neuter him, after warning all employees at the vets how violent Oscar was. The vet had no problem with anaethetising Oscar and the operation went off fine. Today Oscar has a mate and they cuddle most of the time and I can pick him up without gloves. He still does not cuddle with me and only tolerates short holdings (such as his monthly weighing), but this is so much better than how it was.
