JuanitaThis follows on from Accidents - Juanita alarming episode one + photo. The second episode was even odder! I turned round one evening during playtime and found Juanita lying down like a wee dog, with her chin on her front paws and her ears folded flat back. She was rigid - indeed so rigid that I could slide one hand under her and put her back into her cage. After a while (maybe 20 mins) she gradually returned to normal. The vet (a different one) was baffled. She wanted me to keep a diary of her general behaviour, eating etc.,to see if anything emerged. I proposed extra liquid calcium and general tonic which my vet agreed to and this I kept up for about a week. The true reason for the rigid episode has never really emerged. I don't know if she had some sort of a fit or if she had hurt herself while playing. I have five chinchillas and she is the only one to fold back her ears when perturbed. This was in the UK |
