Lucky

Webmaster's experience

Lucky joined our home in 1995 as a one year old rehome. A greedy girl she has never been any problem healthwise, she has cataracts but that has never stopped her acting normally. She loves her food can reduce a chew stick into splinters in seconds and is always good about eating plenty of hay.

Then in September 2003 she went off her food. She did however continue to demolish, in her normal speedy way, a charcoal cob, lava bites etc. She also tucked into a special recipe for poorly chins with relish, making me think she was hungry.

After testing her with the charcoal cob I decided to try her with no supplements/ treats she did eat a few pellets but far less than usual.

I really wasn't sure what direction we should have been going in, could this be teeth problems if she can still demolish hard objects? It did seem to me she was eating her treats a bit slower than usual though she was tucking into her hay. Her eye was also a bit wet.

Under aneasthetic they found one molar slightly protruding which may have impeded her tongue so that was zapped. The vet couldn't see any sign of root problems on the xray and sought a second opinion just to be sure, no problems were found.
All was well again until April 2004.
