KamiSymptoms Refusing food. Diagnosis under anaesthetic she was found to have no problems with her molars, she was given a thorough examination and a blood test was taken. The blood test results showed she had 'kidney problems' - sorry I didn't keep a diary so cannot be more explicit - on a Thursday we were back at the vets where she was given an injection to boost her appetite. It was explained that if she were a cat or dog they could advise on feeding but........ Thursday evening she was almost her normal self but during the night she slipped into a coma and died peacefully in the early morning. Kami never lost weight despite not eating? She had a very glossy coat and, if anything a slightly obese appearance. Despite losing her I still wanted to look into what feeds I could have found for her it was only then I asked to see the ingredients of the pellets I was using and was horrified to find they contained meat & bone meal. This may not have any relevance to her condition but chinchillas are strict herbivores This was in the UK in 1998 Kami was Lucy and Lucky's, sister.
