PreciousWe added to our chin family with another female and a male. They then took care of extending the family a little further and to my delight I found two baby chins in the cage one morning. I hadn't even know that Mischka was pregnant! Within a couple of days I noticed that one of the babies was not able to keep one of her eyes open. It looked a little crusty so I took her to our vet. He gave me some antibiotics to drop in her eye, but the condition only worsened. By this time the eye had become ulcerated and the vet said that the only hope we would have of saving her life would be to operate to remove the eye , otherwise it would poison her tiny system. It was very risky as she was so tiny, but by the grace of God she survived. She is just over a year old and in the past 12 months she has developed an abscess over the area where the eye was removed. So far she has been treated with antibiotics the first time and a broad spectrum serum the second time it occurred. So far so good - it hasn't returned. Hopefully this information might be of some use to someone. Received by e-mail 14th August 2001 see also Heat exhaustion and Teeth Mousey Mousey tooth spur
