Accidents

The near disaster with Chico occurred one evening playtime. I made a dive to stop Juanita at some particularly damaging pastime and, in doing so, kicked/stood on or otherwise caused poor Chico to come in violent contact with my foot. When I picked him up to check for breakage's he arched himself backwards in a strange way (I was quite convinced I had killed him!). As I could not think quite what to do I merely cuddled him till he seemed more normal and put him into his cage for the night.

First thing in the morning we got an appointment for the vet. She found him quite normal except for one eye which looked a bit further in than normal - this seemed to be a sign of possible concussion. He got a steroid injection, drops to be put in his water dish and advised to be kept quiet for a few days. He was certainly not anxious to come out to play that night but soon returned to usual activities and over a period of time (I can't remember how long) the eye returned to normal.
